Your Car Deserves CORRECT Wiring!

You have probably seen the videos, pictures, and social media posts of cars spontaneously catching fire. This is easily avoidable if you just take a few moments to read through this post!

The Quick and Simple Guide

You should print out the following diagram as it will be the best tool you've ever had in your wiring bag.  You will need to ensure that you purchase the correct relay before continuing with this guide. You can grab a few HERE.

87: This is the Output power. This is where you will connect the positive wire from your accessory. Whenever the relay is active, this prong will consistently feed 12 volts of power.

30: This is the Input Power. You will run this from your power source (Battery) with an inline fuse that fits your needs.

86: This is an Optional Switch Source. If you are trying to use your headlights, Dash lights, Fans, or some other power source to switch on your accessory then this is where that will connect to the relay. If you are not using a powered switch then simply wire this with the (30) prong. You do not need a large wire as there will be almost no amp draw through this wire.

85: This is the ground. This will need to be grounded if you are using ( 86 ) as your powered switch. If not, you will need to connect a basic on/off switch between the ground and the relay. This will ensure that your switch does not get hot and melt your fingers when turning your accessory on and off.

Relay Wiring Harness
I highly recommend grabbing a wiring harness for these relays. These wiring harnesses are usually sold with the relay for a few additional dollars. This will make your wiring easier and way cleaner! You can find one a relay wiring harness HERE!

Tips:

  • Do Not Use Cheap or Undersized Wiring
  • Do Not Use Undersized or Small Fuses or Wiring
  • Do Not Use A Cheap China Relay
  • Do Not Leave Any Exposed Metal

  1. Auto accessories provide your vehicle with a smart look, in other words they make them look better then it would without them. Two: They also help protect your vehicle from wear and tear. For example, when you get car seat covers you are protecting the seats from the sun and body wear. ProTuningLab
